A572 is a high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) structural steel with more carbon content than other specifications, including A356, which gives it its high-strength characteristics. A572 steel has good weldability and formability and is ideal for structural applications requiring a higher strength-to-weight ratio, including bridges, building frames, and crane booms.
