304L is an austenitic stainless steel grade. It features a similar composition as 304, except with lower carbon content. As a stainless steel, it naturally has superior corrosion resistance, particularly intergranular corrosion, so it performs exceptionally harsh environments. Its low carbon content results in slightly reduced strength and hardness compared to 304, but higher ductility and formability, making it particularly useful for welded structures.
