304 is a popular austenitic stainless steel grade providing excellent corrosion resistance in most environments (with exception of marine environments) due to its high chromium content, high temperature resistance, and good tensile strength. Its smooth, non-porous surface is easier to clean and sanitize, which is why it’s commonly used in the food and beverage and medical industries. When cold-worked or machined, 304 stainless steel can become slightly magnetic.
