12L14 is a commonly used resulfurized, rephosphorized, cold-rolled carbon steel grade known for its high strength, smooth surface finish, and excellent machinability in machining applications, which is why it’s sometimes referred to as a “machine-grade” steel. 12L14 may be alloyed with Tellurium or Selenium to further improve its machinability, depending on application requirements. Welding is not recommended.
Mechanical properties of this grade vary based on shape and size. King Steel carries this grade in rounds, squares, hexes, octagons, and flats in sizes ranging from .250” to 15” (diameter). Contact King Steel today to place an order or for additional specs.
